Does anyone want to collaborate, discuss, design something here, bat ideas back and forth, see what happens? Something for Torth, maybe?

I came up with an idea for a mutated animal that might be problematic in any civilized land. They're called Pekul ("Peh-kool"),rodents that move with supernatural speed . They're mostly harmless in the wild unless their warrens are molested. Then they frenzy, moving so fast that they eat people alive. Grain and seeds are often forfeit if stored anywhere in the range of a Pekul warren.

Thoughts?

Have You Ever Seen

Have you ever seen the movie "Critters"?

Nope. After posting I half

Nope. After posting I half expected Speedy Gonzales jokes, actually. :)

Why do you ask?

Critters

Is that the one with Kevin Bacon? I think I walked out on that during its theatrical release a million years ago.

VS

Tremors

You;re thinking of Tremors. The second one was much cooler to me.

Critters

I have a difficult time believing that VS hasn't seen Critters, lol.

It's a classic.

I think it's a great idea.

They could eat a part of Torth every so often like locust plague. For the inhabitants the mass exodus every so often would be a part of life, but characters from another part of Torth wouldn't understand what's going on during such an occasion. It seems easy enough for a local to explain, but would the characters believe it? ;)

Nice.

I also think it's a great idea. For some reason, I'm reminded of the chittering sea-rats from A Flight of Dragons that make a sound (when in large groups) that drive people mad.

Ok, I think I remember seeing the VHS box for Critters back in the 80's. Will check the link out and see if I've seen it.

VS

The maddening sound...

The maddening sound could be more or less maddening depending on the density of the rat swarm within a given radius and how frenzied they are. It would be like a gigantic chainsaw revving up.

I've never seen A Flight of Dragons, it's on the list.

The rats themselves could be introduced early in the adventure by having a PC accidently crunch one under his boot, for a 'WTF is stuck to my shoe?' moment.

Nope

I guess I've never seen Critters. Will put that on my short list of DVDs to buy. Thanks for the recommendation, Shawn!

VS

Critters

The series jumps the shark at 3.

I'm surprised it didn't jump

I'm surprised it didn't jump the shark halfway through the first movie!
